Have you ever handed in homework late or stayed up late the night before a piece of work was due? You can avoid last-minute panic if you manage your time more efficiently.

• Make the most of your time. Stay on task. Remove distractions, such as television or games, and tell people that you will need to work undisturbed during your study time.

• Do the tasks you consider to be the most difficult first.

• Reward yourself periodically with a five-minute break.

• Keep necessary supplies on hand, such as a copy of the work set, computer, pencils, pens, colouring pencils or felt-tip pens, paper, ruler, and calculator. Are the resources you need located at school?

• It can be helpful to discuss homework requirements with your friends. If working with a partner or in a group share ideas and divide up tasks when appropriate.
