Who are Agnus, Alice, Paula, Denise, Lisa, Buster, Gary, Bridgett, and the CIA twins?

And what do they have to do with my Amiga?

Agnus, Paula and Denise along with the CIA twins are the custom co-processors for the Original Chip Set.(OCS)

They are found in Amiga 1000,2000,500 & 600. Agnus 8272,(sometimes called FAT Lady)   is the custom graphics and animation co-processor. Later upgraded to use 1mb of graphics memory 8275 (FAT Agnus), and for 2Mb (FATTER AGNUS).

Denise 8372 is the custom display processor. Sometimes known as Denise-Halfbright. Upgraded later as Super-Denise 8374. The Super Denise and Fat Agnus combination were known as the Enhanced Chip Set.(ECS)

Paula is the custom sound co-processor. Virtually unchanged as she moved from the OCS to ECS and later to AGA.

The CIA's are the Complex Interface Adapters and are custom control processors, for OCS and ECS Amigas, and handle the ports and expansions of the early Amiga family.

Alice replaced Agnus (Agnes) with AGA (Advanced Graphics Arcitecture).

Buster replaced Gary for better control of the system BUS.
Lisa replaced Denise and gave more colors and display modes, under AGA.

Bridgett, was a custom ECS chip in the Amiga 3000, that handled the expansion bridge.
