The term GURU actually comes from early Amiga
lore.
The original Amiga designers were working on a video game machine. To make money during
the development they made quick cash during the video game craze of the late 70' by making
Video Game Controllers.
One of the controllers they developed was a sort of pad that sat on the floor, there
was a meditation program that detected any move you would make while on the pad. The
purpose was to sit completely still. So when the designers would get frustrated they
would meditate on this pad, like a GURU.
Later, during the design of what would later become AmigaOS, when the computer would
seem to stop and "meditate" or cause you to need to relax --- A system crash,
they had to put in the computer a:
GURU
MEDITATION
And the rest they say is history. :) Really.
