Many of us, although we haven't abandoned our Amiga, use a PC or a Mac.   How about turning that Mac or PC into an Amiga?

It can be done.

qimage.gif (1004 bytes)Are there any Amiga Emulators for Windows/Macintosh?

aimg.gif (1009 bytes)There are a couple Amiga Emulators for these other systems, most of them are based on the UAE (UNIX Amiga Emulator)

And there is a version called WinUAE, of course for Windows. Also look for Fellow and Amiga in A BOX. (AIAB)

Many UAE flavors Amiga In A Box and Fellow are available for download

qimage.gif (1004 bytes)Are there Commercial programs for emulating the Amiga?

aimg.gif (1009 bytes)A commercial program for emulating the Amiga on a PC is available. It is called "Amiga Forever" It is explained in more detail in the Pediatrics department under clones.  It is made by Cloanto makers of the great Amiga program...Personal Paint.

qimage.gif (1004 bytes)Now what do I do with it?
aimg.gif (1009 bytes)One of the best reasons to have an emulator of the Amiga, is so that you can use those old programs and not have to switch back to the Amiga. Less space on the desk.
qimage.gif (1004 bytes)Can I run All software?
aimg.gif (1009 bytes)NO, you will never be able to run 100% of emulated system software. There are too many occasions where program designers used code that taps the original hardware. There is a good chance though that with good PC hardware you can emulate AGA on your PC even if you only have an ECS Amiga.   This way you can see what you are missing, by not getting the A1200.

qimage.gif (1004 bytes)What can I get from the Internet?
aimg.gif (1009 bytes)You can get tons of resources from the Internet. Tons of software and even OS ROM downloads are available from the Internet. It's amazing.  Most software that comes from the Internet that is for the Amiga emulators is in a "disk image" format, that means that the individual files are not in the file, but a single file that contains all the individual files, and the emulator reads this single file, as if it was the drive containing all the individual files.  You will need to get a program that will make these image files from your Amiga to get the programs into your emulator.
