Amiga 3000/3000UX/3000T.

qimage.gif (1004 bytes)What can I do with an Amiga 3000/UX/T

aimg.gif (1009 bytes)The Amiga 3000 was just about the perfect Amiga. It has a nice BIG BOX case, with more style than the A2000, has a newer motherboard design, and a faster processor from the start. Also the A3000 has a flickerfixer on the motherboard. The 3000 family has a built-in SCSI controller, and originally came with a 120Mb hard drive.

qimage.gif (1004 bytes)Can the A3000 run modern software?
aimg.gif (1009 bytes)Yes, with upgrading. In general, the following upgrades:
A) AmigaOS 3.1
B) Accelerator card equipped with a 68030/40mhz or better
C) 8MB RAM
D) A Graphics card capable of AGA graphics
E) Harddrive of 100Mb or more and a CD ROM
* Please note, that any software requiring the upgraded AGA custom chipset will not work with the A3000's without extra graphics hardware.

qimage.gif (1004 bytes)Can I use it on the Internet?
aimg.gif (1009 bytes)Yes, once again you'll need to upgrade. First off, it's imperative to have a hard drive and a good amount of RAM. Even if you upgrade to a fairly quick CPU, you'll still be limited in colors, it is possible, and recommended to install a graphics card, through the expansion slots.

qimage.gif (1004 bytes) How do I expand it?
aimg.gif (1009 bytes):The Amiga 3000 series had several expansion slots available, and at least one extra drive bay. (the tower had lots of extra room). Many of the chips on the motherboard are socketed for easy repair and upgrade. The memory type used on the Amiga 3000 models are older ZIP type memory and are 'quirky' at best to use and replace. There are upgrades out there that use the physical ZIP slots but allow faster and more modern SIMM type memory to be used.
