The Next Amiga
What
is the Amiga One?
The AmigaOne, is the next
Amiga. You can forget Agnus, Alice, Paula, Lisa, Denise and the others. The AmigaOne will
be using standard PCI expansion cards, just like the PC and Macintosh. Also, no more
Motorola 68k chips, the AmigaOne will be using one of several possible chips including
x86/PPC/and Arm.
Will
I have to give up my current Amiga?
NO. The AmigaONE is meant
to run inside the Amiga 1200/4000/4000T and (others later). PLUS it can run as a stand
alone computer.
Can
I connect to the Internet?
The new AmigaONE is
developed with the web in mind.
How
will it run my current software?
Through emulation. The
AmigaONE will run your current Amiga applications, as good as your current Amiga, by
emulating the current Amiga hardware. You will not notice the power of the new Amiga until
you run the applications developed for it. Being able to emulate the current Amiga
systems, is a very good decision to move the Amiga community forward, while allowing us to
run what we already have.
