Workbench Disk: Libs Drawer Libraries are simply collections of routines of a certain type or application. From a programmers point of view a library is a set of functions which can be used as large jump tables from which functions can be called. Libraries are used so that programmers can use functions which are not easily available in programming languages, but are made available by the Operating System. Libraries are divided into various function groups. Most of these are already contained in the ROM, which can only be updated by ROM upgrades, (Kickstart Revisions). Other libraries must be loaded in from disk as required. Below is a list of the Libraries available with Workbench 3.0 disk:
You my discover that when you install software applications they add additional libraries or may request an updated version. Aminet archives is a good place to start when looking for libraries and updates. |
